More about Respect for All CounsellingRespect for All (RFA) was created in 2002 when a core group of four counsellors came together and advertised a Counselling Service for people with learning difficulties, Asperger's Syndrome and autism; and also for their carers and family members.RFA found that people were interested in the Service but encountered difficulties in affordability. By 2003 RFA had become a voluntary body and were able to apply for funding from Local Authorities and charitable organisations, and, most recently, The National Lottery, thereby enabling a free Service to be offered to persons living across all ten authorities in Greater Manchester. ![]() At the same time RFA began to recruit Committee members, and their dedication and hard work has greatly assisted the organisation of such tasks as: finding funds, budgeting/accounts, publicity, writing policies/procedures etc. All of the work is done on a voluntary basis. To find out more about becoming a volunteer click here. Since then, the group of counsellors has expanded to meet increasing demand. A play therapist has allowed RFA to also work with younger children. Thanks to funding RFA can now offer placements to trainee counsellors. RFA is not an office-based service: the organisation comprises those people working within, and running, the Service. Members of the organisation regularly meet in order to discuss business matters and undertake peer group supervision. Referrals of clients to RFA are allocated to counsellors on a geographic and skills-oriented basis. We will always bear in mind the needs of the client when allocating to specific counsellors. Examples of sources of referrals to RFA in the Greater Manchester area include: Aspirations; Connexions; Creative Support; Turning Point; Talbot House; MAP; Langdon Community; Bury Employment and Support training; Family members; Children's disability teams; Social Workers; Residential Care providers; Community teams; Support Workers; GPs; Colleges; and self-referrals. For the above organisations See our News & Resources Page Downloading forms from the RFA Forms Library Click here for RFA enquiry form (in pdf format). Once the form opens you can print off etc by selecting from the top menu. Other forms will be added shortly for referrals, self-referral etc |
